The three ways from Incheon Airport into Seoul, where to find each one in Terminal 1 and 2, and which suits your hotel area. Plus the transport card catch on arrival day.

Pick by where you're staying (our tips)

1. HONGDAEHongdae, Mapo, Gongdeok: AREX all-stop

   The all-stop train stops at Hongik Univ. (transfer to Line 2) and Gongdeok (Lines 5 and 6) before Seoul Station, so there's no need to go all the way into the centre.

2. CENTRESeoul Station, Myeongdong, Jung-gu: AREX to Seoul Station

   Take the all-stop or the Express to Seoul Station. Myeongdong is two stops away on Line 4 (Seoul Station → Hoehyeon → Myeongdong).

3. GANGNAMGangnam, Jamsil, east Seoul: look up an airport bus

   The train means one or two transfers to the south and east of the city. An airport bus that stops near your hotel avoids carrying bags through stations. Search your area on the airport's bus route page.

4. LATELate flight, big bags or a group: taxi

   Take the taxi at the official stand outside arrivals. Seoul's International Taxi has a flat fare by district. Our taxi guide has the fares and how to avoid being overcharged: seoulful.guide/taxi

AREX train (공항철도)

1. WHERETransportation Center, B1, in both terminals

   Follow the Train / AREX signs down to the Transportation Center on B1. Ticket machines are on B1; there are information desks nearby.

2. ALL-STOPAll-stop train (일반열차): tap a T-money card

   Stops at every station, including Gimpo Airport, Digital Media City, Hongik Univ., Gongdeok and Seoul Station. About 66 minutes from Terminal 2 to Seoul Station on the airport's route map (Terminal 1 is one stop closer). Pay by tapping a T-money card at the gate; the fare depends on distance and is shown on AREX's fare page.

3. EXPRESSExpress train (직통열차): non-stop, ticket only

   Runs non-stop between the airport and Seoul Station with reserved seats. You need an Express ticket; a T-money card doesn't work for it. 2026 guides list ₩13,000 for an adult at the counter (online resellers sell it for less), and about 43 minutes from Terminal 1 and 51 from Terminal 2.

4. CARDThe Climate Card can't be used to leave the airport

   Seoul's Climate Card covers AREX rides that end at Incheon Airport, but you can't board at the airport stations with it. On arrival day, pay with T-money. Buy a T-money card at a convenience store in the terminal (our tip).

Airport bus (공항버스)

1. T1Terminal 1: Seoul buses outside exits 3–7, 1F

   Gyeonggi buses leave from outside exits 7–10, regional buses from exits 11–13 and Incheon buses from exits 2–3 and 13–14. Bus ticket booths are on 1F, inside and outside.

2. T2Terminal 2: follow the Bus signs

   Bus stops and ticket booths are signposted from arrivals; the airport website has a separate Terminal 2 bus stop map.

3. PAYTicket booth, T-money or card

   Buy at the booth outside the terminal, or pay with T-money or a credit card. Fares differ by route and bus type; the booth shows the price before you pay.

4. ROUTEFind your bus by hotel area

   Search the bus number for your neighbourhood on the Incheon Airport bus route page before you land, and screenshot it (our tip).

Taxi (택시)

1. STANDUse the taxi stand outside arrivals

   Regular meter taxis, deluxe and large taxis, and the flat-fare International Taxi all queue at the stands outside arrivals. Don't go with someone who approaches you inside the terminal (our tip).

Local tips

• Our tip: download your hotel's Korean address before you fly and show it to the bus booth or taxi driver.
• Our tip: the Express only goes to Seoul Station. If your hotel is near Hongik Univ. or Gongdeok, the all-stop train gets you there without backtracking.
• Fares, times and bus routes change. Check the AREX and Incheon Airport pages on the day you travel.
